The Witch of Yule

The theme was Winter + Monster Girls , so Winter > Christmas > Midwinter Celebration + Dryad folklore = The Witch of Yule.
Was thinking up on myths and folklore from the Dryad's point of view.

Lore Time!:
The Witch of Yule is a popular folklore figure among the dryads. Although there are some variations according to region, the core story remains the same:
The groove village of Yule was suffering from a harsh winter, the frost so cold it splits trees in half. In the middle of winter, when the night was longest, the cold threatened to engulf the whole village. It was then that suddenly a lone traveler suddenly appeared. Wearing cloaks of evergreen, with garments red as cherry, the traveler brought food and gifts. She asked for nothing in return, except for a chance to dance with the children. Soon, the merry-making (and the food) helped the villagers pull through the long night. By dawn, the generous traveler have all but disappeared.

Since then, it became a custom for dryads to select one of their own to become the Witch of Yule during midwinter, and visit neighboring villages to spread selfless goodwill, joy and (by now) lots of liquor. When humans settled nearby, the custom was also passed on after much intercultural mingling, leading to humans celebrating their Midwinter Festival with a gift laden evergreen tree.
